AP Research – Jesse Tangen
This session AP Research – with Jesse Tangen is offered IN PERSON during Week 2: June 22-25, 2026 at Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia.
Meet your APSI Consultant for AP Research

I graduated with honors from Boston University in English. Thereafter, I pursued a Master’s in Education in Fordham University. Since then, I have also studied internationally at La Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Spain, and La Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia, where I completed a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Library and Information Science at the University of Southern Mississippi.
I have been a high school teacher for 24 years. I currently teach AP Research at an international school in Bogota, Colombia. My involvement as an instructor with AP Capstone began early in the development of the program, in 2016. Work from a former student is featured as an exemplar in the College Board AP Research Workshop Handbook.
I served as a Reader for both AP Seminar and AP Research. I have been a table leader for AP Research since 2023. I began consulting for the College Board in 2022. In addition to Walton APSI, I have also collaborated with Fordham University, Goucher College and the College of William and Mary.
At the end of every school year, I look forward to working with teachers and sharing my approach to this course. When meeting in-person, I bring original hands-on activities that participants can adapt and bring to their own AP Research classroom. I also have a few hacks for the course to keep students engaged, while keeping them on track to achieve the best score possible.

You’ll also learn about completing the digital activation process at the start of the school year that will give you immediate access to the new resources and will help ensure that your students can register for AP Exams by the new fall deadlines. By attending this APSI, you’ll gain deeper insight into the following key takeaways, among several others: Understand the Course; Plan the Course; Teach the Course; Assess Student Progress; and Engage as a Member of the AP Community. In addition, specific attention will be paid to the following AP Classroom resources: unit guides, personal progress checks, AP teacher community, and the AP question bank.
