Meet your APSI Consultant for AP Research
Emily H. Lott is an experienced educator and consultant who believes that rigorous instruction and meaningful relationships are not mutually exclusive—they are essential partners in student and teacher success. With over a decade of experience in K–12 and higher education, she mentors educators to build confidence in applying new strategies, fosters reflective practice, and champions inclusive, data-informed decision-making.
     As the English Language Arts Specialist for Hall County School District, Emily leads the development of innovative, standards-aligned curriculum for grades 9–12, supporting diverse learners through multimodal, digitally integrated instruction. Her leadership has shaped over 1,300 days of classroom-ready content and empowered teachers through collaborative design and coaching.
     Nationally, Emily has served as a Lead Instructor and Consultant for The College Board, where she develops instructional resources, facilitates professional learning, and supports a global community of AP Research educators. Her consulting work with organizations like AdvanceKentucky, Mass Insight, and the Georgia Department of Education reflects her expertise in curriculum, assessment, and educator development.
     Emily holds a doctorate from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, where her research focused on organizational learning and capacity-building. Whether designing curriculum or leading professional learning, she brings a thoughtful, relational approach that inspires educators to lead with both rigor and empathy.
 

APSI Session Description

Unlock the power of student-driven inquiry with the AP Research APSI. This dynamic, hands-on institute prepares educators to lead students through the full research process—from developing a question to presenting a scholarly paper. Participants will explore the AP Research framework, scoring rubrics, and proven strategies for mentoring students in ethical, rigorous, and meaningful research.
Through collaborative activities and real-world examples, educators will gain confidence in guiding students to think critically, synthesize sources, and communicate findings effectively. Whether you’re new to AP Capstone or looking to refine your approach, this APSI equips you with the tools to inspire independent thinkers and academic leaders.
