 APSI Session Description:

Join us for a four-day Summer Institute built to help AP French Language and Culture teachers confidently navigate the redesigned 2026–2027 course and exam. Together, we’ll explore the structure and philosophy of the new exam, focusing on the project-based component, updated expectations, and how to weave interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational communication into your teaching. We’ll break down the revised course framework and official guidelines so you can clearly see how to align your daily instruction with the new exam requirements. We’ll also dive into cultural analysis using the products, practices, and perspectives framework, explore the increased focus on authentic sources and research skills, and highlight the importance of spontaneous and prepared oral performance. By the end of our time together, you’ll feel comfortable with all the new materials that support the project component and understand exactly how they fit into the course as a whole.
This institute is all about hands-on learning. You’ll work with project-based prompts, build research scaffolds, and create classroom-ready tools to help your students with inquiry, cultural comparisons, and presentation prep. We’ll see model oral presentations, run Q&A simulations, and share practical strategies for guiding students through both the written reflection and follow-up questions. You’ll work with fellow teachers to plan pacing, assessments, and classroom implementation—making the new framework feel not just manageable, but truly exciting. You will gain familiarity with all of the College Board tools that support French curriculum design and instruction. By the end of the four days, you’ll walk away with a clear roadmap for the changes ahead, plus practical materials and strategies to launch the redesigned AP French course with confidence and enthusiasm.
