Meet your APSI Consultant for AP Business with Personal Finance

Amanda Thiede has taught Business and AP coursework in Texas since 2009 and is a 2025–2026 field test teacher for AP Business with Personal Finance. She is actively piloting curriculum and assessments ahead of the course’s national launch in 2026–2027.

Amanda has taught AP Microeconomics since 2018 and has served as an AP Reader since 2023, grading Free Response Questions and gaining direct insight into AP scoring standards and expectations.

In addition to her classroom experience, Amanda has delivered professional development for educators at both the campus and district levels, focusing on curriculum design and instructional technology integration. She looks forward to supporting teachers as they confidently launch this new AP course.

APSI Session Description

This APSI prepares educators to confidently launch the new AP Business with Personal Finance course for the 2026–2027 school year. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the course framework, units, and skill expectations while exploring practical implementation strategies.

Together, we will break down the course structure, discuss pacing considerations, and focus on building student reasoning and application skills aligned to AP standards. Participants will also gain insight from the 2025–2026 field test year, including real classroom experiences, adjustments made, and lessons learned during initial implementation.

By attending this APSI, educators will receive access to ready-to-use Project-Based Learning Guides for each unit designed to support instruction from Day 1. Teachers will leave with concrete planning tools, classroom-ready resources, and the confidence to successfully implement this new AP course.
